Whew! Hard to believe Thanksgiving weekend is really winding down. It’s been special. I’ve also been working on two workshops: Mandala Magic with Julie Gibbons and Creative+Practice with Lisa Sonora.
Here’s one of the watercolor mandalas I did:
AND here’s the cover and 2 inside pages of my new “Map Book” sketchbook for Creative+Practice. It used to be plain black!
Beautiful northern treasures from a very special sister…
This is something I am trying to keep close to my heART! I follow Nicolas Wilton’s blog and he was working over an old painting that he liked, but didn’t LOVE…. and that reminded me to connect to this again and again. I’ve had two small paintings in the studio that surface from time to time. I liked them… but I didn’t really LOVE them, so I reworked them, adding contrast and stardust and some real butterflies. Framing them just made it even better. Now I LOVE them and feel much better about having them around. Do you LOVE the things you make, the things you do, the things you have around you?
Ahh… took time to clean the studio table and get a little more organized. It feels good, as if I swept the cobwebs from my brain! I am sticking to my sketch/watercolor-a-day and started some new 8″x10″ paintings. The “Remembering” collages linger along with me as I go. I feel somewhat more motivated since I am contemplating selling at some Art Festivals next year. I haven’t done that in years and years. It can be a lot of work, but it’s very rewarding on many levels.
It’s fall! We’re into it and many are feeling the chill. Here in Florida it’s still warm. We are actually breaking records some days with our temperature. But the skies are big and sunsets beautiful. The land is lush with color. Even so, I’ve been missing the fall leaves that used to come from my northern friends and family via the snail mail. So, I went on a walk today and collected a few colorful leaves of my own. I am also painting some in watercolors… it makes me feel like Jack(ie) Frost!
From my morning walk today…
Happy November! I’ve been working on some small collages, some journal pages and playing round with watercolors… my goal for November is to really kick my “Creative Practice” into gear with regular daily attention. Reading BIG MAGIC by Elizabeth Gilbert is a great motivator to pay attention. I am off to yoga at Raven’s Nest. What are you starting you week with?
