I can’t believe I haven’t been here since J U N E! Yikes. Time flies by when we are distracted by life emergencies, learning to do new things and being a full time caregiver with a capital “C.” My creative side has taken a back seat in my life, but I am hoping to find it again. My sister started it with a little gift, actually a whole box of gifts, just wonderful little things that I love. Included was a small watercolor sketchbook. One day I just decided to do some opening pages. It’s only 4″x4″ so I knew it wouldn’t take long and it would feel so good to feel paint and glue on my fingers again! And it did! So… a connection was made, wires were reconnected and my heart started to open up a bit.
thank-you little sister
It’s warm and wonderful here in sunny Florida. Great weather for getting outside and doing some watercolors of found leaves and things.
I like to celebrate the start of each new month with 2 pages in my journal. I usually include a little calendar and an intention or list of my wishes for the month. November, with Thanksgiving just around the corner, reminds me to be thankful for all my blessings, to live life with grace, to feel my creative energy and find magic in the moments… those little things that make up one big life! Hugs, friends, family near and far, sunshine, cool breezes, leaves flying, a smile, colorful paints, warm apple crisp, cranberries, green tea, dark chocolate, yoga, cozy socks and the purr of my cat. I have so much more than I could have ever imagined for myself when I was younger! What are you grateful for and what moments are magical for you?
I wish you a month bursting with wonderfulness!
T hese are a couple of spreads from my Creative+Practice studio sketchbook where I am working with the prompts from Lisa Sonora’s FIRE, 30 days of journal prompt. The Dive In one really got me going on some bigger paintings and I feel less stuck! What are you diving into these days?
Memories of my trips, the big skies, the trees and just playing around with a new “O” stamp!
Good news, though, I am finally getting back into making some bigger paintings again… to be shown soon!
Life has sped ahead of me. I feel like I am still in the beginning of June, but the calendar says it’s the middle of July! How does this happen to me? Does it happen to you?
I do take time to stop. I just stop and notice the blooming plumeria or the new orchid…and the big skies at dusk stop me in my tracks…
…and these skies are inspiration to paint or journal or collage…
I’ve been working in my Creative+Practice sketchbook, experimenting with gouache paints, I’ve been making some zippered canvas pouches (that aren’t done yet) and I’ve been working on my SAVE THE BEES project:
… and that has involved painting flowers, sewing, writing and making little books!
SO… I guess that’s where June into July went. Now to get back on track! It shouldn’t be too hard. The days are so hot (94F) that I really just want to stay inside in the cool AC and hang out in the studio making things, reading and writing. What are you doing this summer?
