Wow! I’ve entered a time warp…

I can’t believe it’s been soooooo long since I wrote here. All I can say is “the holidays!” So far it’s been wonderful and there’s more fun to have, but some things like blogging and painting and creating have fallen by the wayside for visiting, cooking, decorating, celebrating and so much more. We did take a little time out and went for a walk around the neighborhood Christmas morning. It was quiet and I found these little treasures. We heard a Barned Owl and I found the little owl feather too. I’ve been taking small vignette photos around the house and you can see them on my Instagram. Just search for ladyfishpirate. Have a wonderful New Year everyone. Cheers!

Nature, art, water – A vacation to soothe the soul…

Every year we try to get away camping one last time, before it gets really hot and the every-afternoon thunderstorms start rolling in. This year we were celebrating our 44th anniversary. It sounds surreal to me to be saying this, 44 years with one person… but it’s been wonderful and it’s definitely worth celebration! It’s how we say good-bye to the month of May… We swam in warm Gulf water, went for long walks along the beach, kayaked with dolphins and enjoyed sitting outside under our own personal Owl Tree!

hOMe to earth and sky – Nature’s Mandala

I’ve been working away on my 8″ x 10″ series of mandala paintings with a big canvas (36″ x 48″) resting on my easel. This week it finally found its voice. I am not totally sure it is finished, but it hangs on the wall now. I will stare at it and the answer will come. It’s going to get busy around here for a couple of weeks with visitors escaping the snowy north lands… my journal pages continue and now I am doing a “Sketchbook Diet” inspired by Liz Steele and drawing every meal before I enjoy it. It’s quite fun and really makes me aware of what’s really going into my body. I will share some of those pages soon. The weekend is coming! Enjoy it. I see Art Festivals and Museum visits in my near future… and of course more mandalas.
